FC Barcelona unveiled the new Home jersey at a Museum of Contemporary Art We went to MACBA to see it for ourselves
FC Barcelona officially unveiled its new 2026/27 Home jersey with a launch event at MACBA, the city's Museum of Contemporary Art. Through a performance combining dance, lighting and optical illusions, the presentation brought to life the concept of the "Blaugrana heartbeat" — the pulse that defines the club's new shirt.
"We wanted to create a launch event that felt different from the usual format," Paloma Mikadze, Director of Barça Identity & Barça Mèdia 360 at FC Barcelona, tells us. "something that would connect with the audience and new generations, as well as our members. MACBA represents emotion, tradition and culture, which aligns perfectly with our brand. So it was a perfect match. MACBA is a place of reference for tourists and locals alike. It's also a place where you can experience a blend of lifestyle and urban style, and, as I said, it's the culture of Barcelona. The emotion people experience here is similar to what we have at Barça, and it's what we were looking for when we expanded our brand. The fusion of the two was perfect and the venue was ideal for showcasing our kit."
As tradition dictates, Barcelona's new Home jersey retains the club's iconic blue-and-garnet vertical stripes, while introducing a series of tonal gradients that broaden the shirt's colour palette, giving it a fresher, more contemporary identity. Among the new details are the addition of the Barça Foundation logo on the back and, most notably, a new bespoke typeface, called FC Barcelona Modernista. Inspired by Catalan Modernism, it will be used across the club's Champions League, Copa del Rey and Supercopa de España kits.
"We also felt this was the perfect moment to introduce a new typeface," Mikadze continues. "We wanted something that would represent our culture, Catalan culture and modernism. That's why we created this typography, inspired by modernism and Gaudí — two things that are deeply rooted in Catalonia, just like our brand. That's the main reason why we chose and designed this typography."
