All of LaLiga's rétro jerseys have now been released The buzz among collectors is unparalleled
The vintage jerseys that will be worn for the upcoming Jornada Retro have been unveiled — an initiative spearheaded by LaLiga to celebrate the heritage and aesthetics of Spanish clubs by revisiting iconic kits from the past. Following teasers on social media, the jerseys were showcased at the LALIGA Fashion Night — a runway event where participating teams’ kits took center stage. For the occasion, even referees will don a special edition uniform. The Jornada Retro, featuring both LaLiga and the Segunda División, is set to take place over the weekend of April 10–13.
The clubs have taken varied approaches in selecting their new retro kits. Many opted for a shared strategy — resurrecting historic designs for both Home and Away shirts, drawing particular inspiration from the ’90s. However, some teams have gone in a different direction. One standout example is Alavés: the Basque club chose to reissue a design inspired by the Luanvi kit worn once, in the UEFA Cup final versus Liverpool, marking the 25th anniversary of that historic match.
While fans eagerly await to see these throwback styles in action and judge their visual impact on the pitch, the buzz surrounding the initiative is undeniable. It’s a move that’s already sparking conversation and building anticipation among industry insiders, fashion enthusiasts, and, of course, collectors. Notably, this edition of the Jornada Retro does not include participation from Real Madrid, Barcelona, Getafe or Rayo Vallecano.
