Recently, there has been a lot of talk about Venezia, the Home and Away jerseys released this season, as well as the incredible attention the club has dedicated to the creation of the goalkeeper kits. The new training jersey, unveiled during the home match against Atalanta on the eighth matchday of Serie A, lives up to the previous ones. The jersey features a buttoned collar, inspired by the Home kit, and includes many other details that make it truly unique. Starting with the color scheme: a green that brightens in the center and gradually fades towards the lower part of the jersey. As seen in the fan versions of the Home and Away jerseys, embellished with the "Città di Venezia" inscription, the pre-match jersey also includes this feature, albeit in an unprecedented vertical version. Additionally, the club’s orange, a symbolic color, returns to prominence, particularly in the NOCTA logo and the club crest, which we are accustomed to seeing in gold.
The Bold Retail Price Choice
Venezia’s decision to end their partnership with Kappa and switch to NOCTA, Nike’s sub-label, has sparked mixed opinions, especially since the Italian brand had been delivering truly masterful kits for Venezia in recent years. The new kits, created with Drake’s involvement, are noticeably different from their predecessors and objectively interesting, both for the renewed design and other important choices. One of these, in particular, concerns the price. The Venezia and NOCTA pre-match jersey costs €120, the same price as the Home and Away jerseys. This choice is practically unique in the football world, considering that adidas sells the Home and Away versions for €100 and €150, while their training jerseys cost €70. Nike follows a similar pattern, with Authentic jerseys priced at €100 and training jerseys at €80.
This decision is intriguing because it’s an excellent way to give value to a product like the training jersey, often considered secondary simply because it isn’t worn by players during the 90 minutes of the game, but rather during moments when the cameras might not even focus on the players on the field. However, training jerseys tend to showcase the boldest designs, often used for just one season and never again. A notable example in European football is Arsenal’s training jersey, created in collaboration with Labrum London, a true gem available at a reduced price (the standard €70 from adidas), but one that also risks losing its value to those browsing the Gunners’ e-commerce. Typically, the Home, Away, and Third jerseys are the top sellers, but this time we wouldn’t be surprised if Venezia’s pre-match jersey outsold the Home and Away versions.
