Bikkembergs is bringing back its football boots. On the occasion of Pitti Immagine Uomo in Florence, the brand unveiled its collaboration with Gosha Rubchinskiy, which brought back the iconic Soccer, a symbol of the late 1990s and one of the most recognizable silhouettes from the Bikkembergs archive. Originally introduced in the late '90s, the sneaker marked an era by turning sports aesthetics into a bold style statement. Today, it returns to the spotlight with a contemporary touch, blending Y2K nostalgia, football references, and the rebellious energy of bloke core.
Faithful to its origins but with a modern aesthetic, the new Soccer is crafted from soft premium leather and features design details that celebrate the brand’s identity, such as the oversized tongue with embossed Bikkembergs logo, the side stripe with the brand’s distinctive ottoman tape, and the tone-on-tone sole with contrasting studs and a double embossed logo. The signature “Gosha Rubchinskiy” is finely screen-printed. The sneaker comes in three colorways (white, green, and black), and each pair includes two sets of interchangeable laces.
With the return of the Soccer, the connection between football and Bikkembergs is rekindled. In 2005, Dirk Bikkembergs decided to invest in Italian football by acquiring the club Fossombrone, taking it to Serie D and nearly achieving promotion to C2. The Belgian designer’s dream was to turn the team into a symbol of style, having players wear his creations. Notably, the Camp Nou became the stage for a fashion show he organized on the pitch of the prestigious stadium. This wasn’t Bikkembergs’ first attempt to enter the football world: in 1996 he launched Bikkembergs Sport, a line of his brand inspired by the silhouette of a footballer. However, it was with Fossombrone that he succeeded in his goal, creating a full line of branded jerseys, shorts, socks, and shoes.
