Bikkembergs' Fossombrone is back An iconic partnership returns
One of the most iconic partnerships in football returns, that between Bikkembergs and Fossombrone. The brand has announced a new collaboration with the Italian club, revisiting the journey that began in 2005 when Dirk Bikkembergs acquired Fossombrone, taking it to Serie D and nearly achieving promotion to C2. The Belgian designer's dream was to revolutionize football by turning the team into the most fashion-forward squad ever, with the same players also serving as models. Today, that vision comes back to life.
Alongside the partnership, Bikkembergs also unveiled a brand-new collection reaffirming the connection between sport and fashion. New formalwear lines merge the aesthetic codes of sportswear, like bicolored tracksuits, with more traditional and elegant elements, such as leather jackets with embossed lettering or polo shirts with three-button closures. Naturally, for the campaign, the iconic white-and-light-blue game jerseys with circular patterns also make a comeback, and in their cleat version, renamed Tirosegno, they will even make it to Serie A.
At first glance, this may seem like a purely nostalgic move, but this new chapter between Bikkembergs and Fossombrone goes in the opposite direction. It may not be a revolution like in 2005, not a shock to the system, but there are common threads, as it represents another attempt to erase contemporary football aesthetics by leveraging the power of fashion to rewrite the rules of the game.
