Ajax and adidas celebrate the 750th anniversary of Amsterdam

Ajax's new Home jersey for the 2025/26 season will be special for its fans. It will in fact be the first shirt on which the historic club logo, which has been a part of the club's history from 1928 until 1991 before making a comeback this past November, will appear. The news of the return to the legendary logo, namely a much more complex version of the face of Ajax The Great, the Homeric character from whom the club takes its name, was greeted with great enthusiasm by Ajax supporters. This enthusiasm was also replicated upon seeing the first images of the new jersey with this crest.

On an aesthetic level, the latest production by adidas does not stray from the Ajax tradition, but rather celebrates the 750th anniversary of the city of Amsterdam by including a pennant on the upper back of the shirt, with the year of Amsterdam's founding, 1275, the year of the anniversary, 2025, and the three crosses of St. Andrew, the city's symbol. The same crosses have also been reproduced on the front, inserted into the pattern that decorates the central red band. The shirt also features subtle black details on the sleeve trim and collar, as a further reference to the three colors of the flag of Amsterdam.
