Which is Italy's most popular jersey among fans? It's an easy answer
The qualification of the Italian National Team for the 2026 World Cup will go through the playoffs. Two wins are needed to secure a place at the tournament set to take place across the United States, Canada and Mexico, but above all to bring the Azzurri shirt back to a World Cup for the first time since 2014. A jersey designed by adidas that has already captured the hearts of fans thanks to its traditional and elegant aesthetic.
Moreover, a potential qualification would carry a special meaning, as it would coincide with the 20th anniversary of the victory at Germany 2006. According to an analysis conducted by JD Sports, the jersey worn during the 2006 World Cup remains the most popular among all Italian national team kits of the last three decades. With an average of more than 1,600 global monthly searches on Google, it clearly outperforms the other Azzurri shirts. It also leads searches on eBay and TikTok, recording over four times the search volume compared to other kits, confirming its enduring appeal among both fans and collectors.
The jersey worn by the national team at Euro 2024 ranks second and shows the strongest growth, with a 975% year-on-year increase. According to the same JD Sports research, third place goes to the Kombat shirt from the 2002 World Cup in South Korea and Japan, a revolutionary kit that in the ranking sits ahead of the shirt worn at France ’98 and the Azzurri jersey used during Euro 2020.
