The new official ball for the 2026 World Cup It's called Trionda and it's ultra-technological

FIFA and adidas have unveiled Trionda, the new official match ball for the 2026 World Cup, presented in Las Vegas with projections on The Sphere. The design, featuring red, green and blue tones, celebrates the three host countries: United States, Canada and Mexico. Each panel incorporates these colors, which come together to form a triangle at the center, symbolizing the unprecedented collaboration between the three nations hosting the tournament. Additionally, the ball pays tribute to each country with distinctive iconography: a star for the USA, a maple leaf for Canada and an eagle for Mexico. These icons are integrated both prominently on the panels and subtly embossed on the matte base, providing an intricate texture when viewed up close.

Built with a new high-performance four-panel structure, the Trionda features a fluid geometry that echoes the waves suggested by its name. Golden details inspired by the FIFA World Cup trophy embellish the design, creating a ball worthy of champions. From a technical standpoint, the four-panel construction was engineered with deep seams and raised lines, strategically positioned alongside the national icons to ensure optimal stability and consistent flight performance.

Trionda also integrates the latest evolution of adidas Connected Ball technology, introducing an innovative chip system mounted laterally. The 500Hz inertial measurement unit (IMU) sensor is now placed within a specially created layer in one of the four panels, rather than at the center, and secured by a suspension system. The addition of counterweights on the other three panels ensures continuous stability and balance in the air.

This technology provides an unprecedented view of the ball's movement, sending precise real-time data to the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system. These data, combined with player positioning and artificial intelligence, allow match officials to make offside decisions more quickly. Developed in close collaboration with Kinexon, the adidas Connected Ball technology also helps referees identify every single touch of the ball, reducing the time needed to resolve specific incidents, including possible handball situations.

The ball is available for purchase on adidas’ e-commerce.
