The boot market is going through an intense period, with major developments unfolding. After Kylian Mbappé's move from Nike to On, another top player appears to have changed suppliers. Or at least, that is what we could gather from the matches played with his national team. We are talking about Gianluigi Donnarumma. The Italy goalkeeper wore Mizuno boots rather than his usual adidas pair in the two Nations League matches against Belgium and Turkey.

From his very first training session, the goalkeeper wore a pair of Morelia boots featuring a white upper with gold details.

Whether Donnarumma's agreement with adidas is on hold or has come to an end altogether can also be inferred from another detail. For several weeks now, Donnarumma has stopped wearing his usual adidas goalkeeper gloves featuring the three stripes, instead opting for gloves made by Reusch. Images had already emerged during the summer of Donnarumma training in Reusch gloves, before he started the season wearing adidas. Now, with the switch taking place mid-season, he wore all-black gloves in both of Italy's matches, without the iconic arrow that usually characterises Reusch gloves.
A new sponsor for Donnarumma or a temporary switch?
It could simply be a temporary situation while Donnarumma waits for a new agreement with adidas. The same could apply to both his gloves and boots. Looking at the signals available, the feeling is that the relationship remains positive and that the two sides have not completely cut ties. This is also suggested by a comment left by the official adidas Italy account on Donnarumma's latest Instagram post, which shows him wearing the captain's armband and the Italy shirt, for which adidas is the official sponsor. At the same time, this could mark a new chapter in Donnarumma's career. After making his Serie A debut with Milan in 2015 wearing PUMA gloves and boots, he switched suppliers between 2019 and 2020, moving to adidas.
