Inside America’s Cup Preliminary Regatta We've been in Cagliari for the first stop of the Road to Naples 2027
From May 21 to 24, Cagliari became the world capital of sailing by hosting the Preliminary Regatta of the Louis Vuitton 38th America’s Cup. In the stunning Gulf of Angels, the Road to Naples 2027 officially began, the journey leading to the final challenge of the world’s oldest international sporting competition. The three-day race format featured both fleet races and an exciting final match race between the top two crews, namely Luna Rossa and New Zealand, with the Italian boat claiming victory.
Great attention was also given to the opening ceremony that officially launched the event along the Cagliari waterfront. One of the moments most appreciated by the public was the parade dedicated to Sardinian tradition, featuring folk groups and performers in historical costumes from various towns across the island. The lens of Marco Camba captured the essence of this evocative encounter between sporting innovation and historical heritage.
