The first level is the traditional tournament patch: the silhouette of the FIFA World Cup Trophy placed above the official 2026 World Cup logo, accompanied by the words World Cup 2026. This patch has been produced in four different colorways. The seven participating nations that have won at least one FIFA World Cup title wear a version featuring white lettering on a gold background or gold lettering on a white background. All other national teams wear versions with white lettering on a black background or black lettering on a white background. Naturally, the specific version used depends on the colors of each team's match kit. This patch is applied to the right sleeve.

Match-stage patches throughout the competition

Another patch common to every participating nation is assigned according to the stage of the tournament. Specifically, FIFA has developed a dedicated patch for each of the three group-stage matches, as well as for the five knockout rounds: Round of 32, Round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals and the final. These patches celebrate FIFA's charitable initiatives, namely Unite for Peace and Unite for Education. They are worn on the left sleeve.

As mentioned, FIFA has also developed a series of patches dedicated to individual players. The first category has been designed to honor the history of the FIFA World Cup and can be considered exclusive, as it may only be worn by players who have won the Golden Boot as the tournament's top scorer, the Golden Ball as the competition's best player, or the Golden Glove as its best goalkeeper. Two additional player-specific patches have also been introduced: one, called Debut, celebrates every player making their first FIFA World Cup appearance, while another, called Legacy, honors those set to compete in their fifth FIFA World Cup in 2026: Manuel Neuer, Yuto Nagatomo, Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Luka Modric.
