Newcastle United will change its logo The fans however, are afraid of losing their own soul

The Newcastle United is one of the most recognizable and historic clubs in English football, before the existence of the Premier League. It has a well-defined aesthetic with vertical black and white stripes, a polo collar, alcohol sponsors in the center of the jersey, and a club logo with heraldic outlines. This logo is now undergoing yet another transformation since the club was acquired by the Saudi sovereign wealth fund PIF in 2021, which aims to renew and update the club's profile to bring it back to the top of English football. After investing in the club with prestigious signings that have led them to third place in the league, and announcing a return to adidas as their technical sponsor, the club has begun the rebranding process of their logo.

On the official club website, it is stated that "this is not a decision we take lightly. We love our badge. It is iconic and has accompanied us through unforgettable triumphs and difficult moments. But it was created in a different era. Its intricate design does not always translate well in today's digital world. And it is difficult to reproduce it clearly and consistently. With football and the world changing, the symbol that unites us must also change". The current logo was first used in the 1989-90 season, and now it is time for a change. This is not the first time that Newcastle United has updated its badge, in the 1980s the Magpies had a very modern logo that is still used in special collections of the club, before returning to a more classic design with the two seahorses supporting the city's castle.

Following the lead of other English clubs that have changed their logo, a survey has been launched to gauge the enthusiasm of fans regarding the proposed new designs. In the coming days, subscribers and fans of Newcastle will have the opportunity to share their opinions through an independent survey, based on which the future logo will be shaped. This is a key step for Magpies fans who are not completely convinced of the club's new direction, which aims to modernize the soul of Newcastle United and change many of the team's historic aspects. From the new logo to the jerseys of the upcoming season, from commercial sponsors to possibly a new stadium that will replace the historic St James' Park.
