nss sports partners with Views for the World Cup From an interview with Materazzi to a report on Italy’s oratori, you can find it all inside Issue 006

The footballing relationship between France and Italy underwent an indelible turning point on July 9, 2006, a date whose twentieth anniversary will soon be celebrated. Prior to that moment, the destinies of the two nations had crossed through a series of transfer market moves that helped spark one of the most glorious eras of Serie A and, in particular, of Juventus: the arrival of Didier Deschamps in 1994, straight from Olympique de Marseille; Zinedine Zidane's move in 1996, transferring to the Bianconeri from Bordeaux; and finally Thierry Henry, who arrived in Turin from Monaco in 1999.

To mark the release of issue 006 of Views print magazine, we teamed up with the French publication to look back at the twenty years since July 9, 2006—the final that handed Italy the fourth World Cup title in its history. It remains one of the most memorable matches in football history, fueled by a dramatic penalty shootout and Zinedine Zidane's infamous headbutt.

The collaboration with Views takes shape through three distinct features: an interview with Marco Materazzi, taken from an official episode of More Than (nss sports' flagship editorial format) and accompanied by backstage images from the editorial; a reportage on Italian youth community pitches (oratori), captured across Naples, Catania, Milan, and Rome through the lenses of photographers Fabio Monaco, Emanuele D'Angelo, Alberto Castellano, and Giacomo Riccardi. The third feature is titled Zidane l'Italien: a reflection by author Gabriel Seroussi, paired with illustrations by artist Simone Tribuiani, exploring the figure of Zinedine Zidane, his impact on pop culture, and the legacy he left behind in Italian football.

All features are available in Views magazine and will be coming soon to the nss sports website.
