The best jerseys from AFCON 2025 The kits that defined the tournament’s aesthetic
The 2025 edition of the Africa Cup of Nations is already shaping up to go down in history as one of the best ever. Credit goes to the fans, the quality of play, the overall level of competition and the electric atmosphere inside the stadiums. But the spotlight is also on aesthetics: from the national teams’ off-pitch looks with their tailored formalwear collections, to the on-field kits specially designed by brands for the tournament.
Mali
The partnership between Mali and Airness has produced a series of iconic kits in recent years, including those designed for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. The French brand once again leaned into the visual language that has redefined the aesthetic of Les Aigles since 2017. The Home jersey features a geometric pattern inspired by the colours of the national flag, unfolding through shapes commonly found in traditional garments. The Away jersey, meanwhile, is defined by the eagle—Mali’s national symbol—rendered tone on tone, with its talons exposed as if striking prey.
Nigeria
Nike kits for Nigeria have long stood out for their originality, and the latest collection is no exception—especially the Away jersey. Defined by a dynamic, irregular pattern of green brushstrokes and splashes extending across both shirt and shorts, the kit delivers a truly distinctive look. Nigeria’s aesthetic impact has been felt off the pitch as well. For their tournament debut, the Super Eagles conducted their pitch inspection wearing a jersey paying tribute to the team that won Olympic gold at Atlanta 1996, paired with the iconic Total 90 boots. In subsequent matches, players opted for the goalkeeper jersey designed by Nike for the 2026 World Cup.
DR Congo
After a transitional first collection, Umbro unveiled a new kit line designed to redefine the visual identity of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The Home jersey is a clear standout: a light blue base topped with a bold flaming motif in white running through the centre of the shirt. The design is further enriched by a second, tone-on-tone geometric pattern made up of fine lines that act as a trait d’union, connecting the graphic elements distributed across the entire jersey.
Morocco
Honouring tradition while introducing new elements: this was PUMA’s approach to Morocco’s Home jersey. Clean and elegant, the shirt incorporates symbols that pay tribute to the history and culture of the host nation of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. Shades of red and green alternate in a structured rhythm, subtly concealing the five-pointed pentagram—known as the Seal of Solomon—featured on the national flag and echoed throughout the design.
Cameroon
Fourteen, the Italian brand and kit supplier of Cameroon, surprised everyone with a collection that breaks completely from convention. Solid colours are abandoned in favour of bold jerseys defined by vibrant hues, where red, yellow and green unfold through a pixelated pattern. The final result is striking, yet it gives the Indomitable Lions a highly recognisable identity—one that still echoes the aggressive looks of the past.
Senegal
For Senegal, PUMA took two distinct creative paths. The Away jersey embraces a bold psychedelic pattern rendered tone on tone, expanding the outline of a lion—a nod to the national team’s nickname, the Lions of Teranga. The Home jersey, by contrast, returns to tradition with an elegant motif running through the centre of the shirt and drawing directly from the colours of the national flag.
