Timothée Chalamet has unveiled Saint-Étienne's new jersey A brilliant move by the French club
Timothée Chalamet knows ball. The star of Marty Supreme is widely recognised as a true sports enthusiast: a devoted New York Knicks fan in the NBA, a long-time WWE lover, and—when it comes to football—the bearer of a surprisingly deep passion for Saint-Étienne, the club supported by his family. One of the most iconic images of the actor shows him next to his girlfriend Kylie Jenner, wearing an adidas tracksuit sweatshirt branded with the French club’s crest. It therefore felt only natural for the Ligue 2 side to choose him to unveil their new fourth kit for the 2025/26 season.
An unconventional launch, with Chalamet receiving the jersey live during the 8 p.m. news broadcast on TF1, the most-watched television programme in France where he was promoting Marty Supreme. Just like any devoted supporter, Chalamet first kissed the badge and then, without hesitation, slipped it on immediately. Leveraging Timothée Chalamet’s star power to present the kit proved to be an extremely effective strategic move, granting Saint-Étienne a level of media exposure that would have otherwise been impossible to achieve.
The jersey was designed by hummel, Saint-Étienne’s technical sponsor, and features a phosphorescent shade of green as its base. Overlaid is a subtle, tone-on-tone pattern repeating one of the elements from the club’s crest—chosen by fans in 2022 as the new symbol of Saint-Étienne. A shirt that embraces contemporary aesthetics, yet one that would likely have flown under the radar—at least for anyone who isn’t a collector or a devoted follower of French football.
