Jack Draper, tennis' new fashion icon Burberry was the first, then came the signing with Vuori
Men’s tennis has found its fashion icon. His name is Jack Draper, a British player born in 2001, currently ranked world number 5 in the ATP standings, who both on and off the court is proving to have a personality beyond the classic stylistic boundaries we are used to boxing professional athletes into. The latest confirmation came during the mixed doubles tournament that is opening the 2025 edition of the US Open. Draper, in fact, has surprisingly changed his sponsor: leaving Nike behind, he is now dressed by Vuori. Vuori is a California-based brand founded in 2015, always dedicated to redefining the traditional concept of sportswear. This ongoing search for new aesthetic standards has also brought Vuori onto tennis courts: at the beginning of 2025, the signing of Tristan Boyer was announced, while the most attentive fans will have noticed that Vuori’s logo was also present at Wimbledon during the last edition thanks to Britain’s Eden Silva and the American Marcos Giron.
The partnership with Draper, however, projects Vuori into a new dimension, as it had never before enjoyed such important media exposure. For his first appearance, Draper wore a sleeveless shirt, ash gray on the front and a lighter shade on the back; the two colors were also used for the shorts, this time with two dark gray inserts breaking up the solid light tone. To complete the look: a white cap and matching wristbands, all branded Vuori. A look that will most likely be repeated throughout the singles tournament, possibly with some color variations. At the moment, there are not many details about the collaboration between Draper and Vuori. The only aspects confirmed to the New York Times are that it is a multi-year partnership and that Draper will work with the brand to create his own collection.
Regardless of these contractual aspects, the collaboration with Vuori confirms Draper’s desire to cultivate his own aesthetic identity. Leaving Nike at this moment in time is not a trivial choice, given that the Swoosh dominates tennis thanks to partnerships with Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz on the men’s side and Aryna Sabalenka on the women’s side. Even more so considering that Draper had managed to stand out as Nike’s alternative athlete, being the one who brought the most surprising kits to the court, such as the purple shirt blending into a pink outfit with a dotted pattern worn at the 2024 edition of the US Open. The ongoing crossover between lifestyle and tennis has nevertheless pushed Draper to change sponsors, staying true to his stylistic vision off the court as well. We are in fact talking about an athlete very attentive to his image, curious about what the fashion world can offer, as demonstrated by his front-row appearance at the Burberry show during the 2024 edition of London Fashion Week. Burberry, a few months later, decided to strongly invest in Draper by making him the brand’s global ambassador. All of this brings us back to the starting point: Jack Draper is the new fashion icon of tennis.
