Emerging brand initiative aimed at the entire city community

Les Deux donated a basketball court to Copenhagen Emerging brand initiative aimed at the entire city community

In the heart of Copenhagen, a fully renovated basketball court has become a vibrant symbol of community, creativity, and gratitude. Named Home Court, the project is the latest initiative by Les Deux, the Danish brand known for blending preppy and streetwear styles. But more than just an aesthetic intervention, Home Court is a permanent gift to the city, designed to bring people together through sport. Located at Charlotte Ammundsens Plads, the court was officially inaugurated on June 20 with a community event that drew hundreds of people. The launch featured a professional-level basketball tournament, DJ sets, kids’ training sessions, and a moving ribbon-cutting ceremony. The energy of the day reflected the project’s core mission: to create a space for connection, play, and sharing. Les Deux has already demonstrated its commitment to social initiatives. In 2023, the brand transformed a public court in Tribeca, New York, paving the way for what has now become a broader mission, led by its charitable platform Les Deux Legacy. This program represents the philanthropic heart of the brand, with the aim of supporting places and communities connected to its story.

For Andreas von der Heide, co-founder of the brand, Home Court holds a special meaning. “Copenhagen has given us a lot, and this is our way of saying thank you,” he said. “We know we can’t change the world, but if even a few kids play here and carry happy memories for life, that’s enough for us.” Les Deux played a central role in every phase of the project: from the initial vision to funding and practical implementation. In collaboration with Kongstad Studio (a Certified B Corporation™), Les Deux completely reimagined the court surface, transforming it into a truly functional piece of art. The design, by Avery Guerin, is inspired by ambigrams, creating a visual composition that can be read and experienced from any angle. The repeating house-shaped patterns symbolically reference the idea of community as “home,” a theme dear to the brand. The court is open to all, without restrictions, and was conceived as a gathering place where sport, friendship, and sharing come together in daily life. “Team sports teach inclusion,” explained Jens Laulund, director of the Children's Basketball Foundation (BørneBasketFonden), which participated in the event with a session dedicated to children. “It’s important to create these small oases in the city where people can meet, have fun, and inspire one another.”

Since its beginnings, Les Deux has built its journey on strong values such as dedication, teamwork, and the desire to give something back to those who made its growth possible. From a small group of friends in a basement in 2011, the brand is now a global presence with charitable projects ranging from schools in Turkey to basketball courts around the world. Looking ahead, von der Heide envisions a global network of Les Deux courts in every city where the brand has roots. “Wherever Les Deux has a home,” he said, “we want to create a Home Court to give something back.” For Copenhagen, this court is now much more than a sports venue: it is a tangible sign of the bond between Les Deux and the city, a meeting point destined to become an integral part of urban life — where people will play, laugh, and build new memories.
