Kappa's new football boot is inspired by cycling Gyra combines vintage aesthetic with contemporary football technology
In football, innovation is not only about technology. The aesthetics of football boots are evolving, bringing together fashion elements, sporting heritage and references to brands’ archives. It is within this context that Gyra, the new football boot by Kappa, comes to life, expressing a balance between technological innovation and aesthetic evolution.
The design draws inspiration from cycling and the colour palettes of iconic racing jerseys, bringing back that sense of craftsmanship deeply rooted in Italian sporting culture. There is no nostalgia in this creative process, but rather a contemporary reinterpretation of the past. This is reflected in the debossed circular pattern, a motif that directly references the world of cycling and becomes an integral part of the structure of the upper, made from 100% natural bovine leather.
Even the smallest details contribute to defining the identity of the model. The HF welded logo adds an essential graphic element to the upper, while the two-tone white and bronze sole, enriched with golden details, brings to football that sense of elegance and attention to detail associated with the tradition of Italian craftsmanship.
But, as mentioned, Gyra is above all about vintage aesthetics applied to the most advanced technological solutions for football. The injected LX stud plate combines strength and flexibility, while the reduction of material along the metatarsal line allows the boot to follow the foot’s natural movements.
At the centre of the configuration is a conical stud positioned on the pivot, designed to facilitate rotations and changes of direction, alongside three heel studs that enhance stability and traction. Completing the system is the raised bite line, engineered to provide greater lateral stability and support the foot during more dynamic movements.
Design, sporting culture and technology come together in a single object. Kappa has brought them into balance, creating a boot that goes beyond its basic function: Gyra is a bridge between a timeless sporting aesthetic and the language of contemporary football, where heritage is not simply preserved, but reinterpreted and transformed into something new. A different way of looking at archives, tradition and Italian identity, bringing them directly onto the pitch.
