Who designed the Como Cup? Cesc Fàbregas's team won the first edition
The first edition of the Como Cup concluded last night with Como's 3-0 victory in the final against Ajax. A tournament in which Mirwan Suwarso’s club once again showcased its vision of luxury football, blending music, lifestyle, and sport. Becky Hill's concert on Friday night, accompanied by Sick Luke and Patrick Nazemi, satisfied the first element and officially kicked off the new season of live shows at the Sinigaglia Stadium, following last season's performances by Gue Pequeno, Camilla Magli, and Gaia, among others. The second element, focused on lifestyle, was expressed through a series of events, showcases, and popups featured in Football on the Lake, the festival that served as the backdrop to the tournament. And finally, football itself—the lure that drew thousands of fans and enthusiasts from all over Europe to the shores of the lake.
The final act of the competition was the awarding of the Como Cup by president Mirwan Suwarso to captain Alessandro Gabrielloni. Masterfully crafted by the talented artisans of CEDAP, a renowned metalworking and design workshop with a long and prestigious tradition rooted in the Como region, the trophy represents far more than just a prize in the club’s eyes. It embodies the deep connection to the region’s cultural and artisanal heritage, skillfully uniting technique, aesthetics, and passion. At the same time, it symbolizes the ambition, excellence, and competitive spirit that fuel the entire event, becoming a tangible emblem of the values that define and distinguish it.
The trophy was unveiled to the public on Wednesday evening by Rhuigi Villaseñor, the club’s creative director, after the master craftsmen at CEDAP had worked on its creation starting from a conceptual image. From the initial design, molds were developed for turning the cup and its base. The handles, on the other hand, were the result of a fully manual process: first hand-modeled, then forged from a fine brass alloy. The logo, evoking the historical emblem of Como 1907, was designed with computer graphics and carved from a solid block of metal using numerical control milling. The final result is a creation that represents a perfect balance between artisanal tradition and technological innovation. The most coveted trophy of the summer football season.
