
Umbro teams up with Rains to unveil another incredible collection Until now, Umbro had never collaborated with a Scandinavian brand
Rains announces its collaboration with Umbro, titled APPLY PRESSURE: a collection aimed at reinterpreting the football kit and the entire aesthetics of the game, from the coaches’ looks to the players’ style. “Much of football fashion is dominated by bold graphics. Our designs instead express a different kind of minimalism: an elegance, a presence that doesn’t need to shout,” says Joshua Bredehoeft, Brand Marketing Director at Rains. “At the same time, we didn’t want to lose the connection with history. Umbro’s Drill Shirt was a real inspiration, being one of the first sportswear pieces to move from terrace culture to a wider audience.”
“We are excited about this collaboration and its contemporary, clean, and high-quality interpretation of Umbro’s classic designs,” says Helene Hope, Head of Global Brand Marketing at Umbro. “The project perfectly captures the trend towards a more refined and tailored aesthetic in sportswear. And it is perfectly aligned with Umbro’s roots, which began with football tailoring in the 1920s.” The launch includes outerwear, footwear, apparel, and accessories. At the heart of the collection are four distinctive pieces: the Drill Top, Apollo Cape, Manager Coat, and Fan Puffer. The Rains x Umbro sneaker also makes its debut, inspired by Umbro’s Fusion model: a low-top shoe with exposed external stitching.
