The style of coaches in the 2024/25 season
What were the main trends?
May 21st, 2025
The 2024/25 season is coming to an end and it is time to take stock of what we have seen... off the field. What style have the coaches expressed? What were the biggest trends? The most extreme case is definitely that of Segundo Castillo, the Ecuadorian coach of Barcelona SC who, during Copa Libertadores' matches, has sported a series of picturesque tuxedos. At the opposite end of this stylistic spectrum are all those coaches who, on the sidelines, show off the official tracksuits of their reference clubs. In between, there have been several coaches who have tried to express their own aesthetic identity.
Vincenzo Italiano
The collaboration between C.P. Company and Bologna was certainly one of the most successful partnerships between football and lifestyle this season. Even more surprising is that Vincenzo Italiano was an exceptional testimonial. The coach has always seemed comfortable wearing the jackets of the Italian brand, effortlessly switching from winter coats to spring jackets.
Pep Guardiola
For Manchester City, it was undoubtedly the most difficult season since Pep Guardiola has been on the bench, but this did not prevent the Catalan coach from remaining a style icon. The combination with Stone Island remained intact, with a constant alternation between the iconic compass logo and crewneck sweaters. In addition, this year Guardiola joined the trend of long coats in the style of Arsène Wenger.
Hansi Flick
Jacket, sweater, slim fit jeans. Hansi Flick never abandoned his casual look throughout this season. An aesthetic choice that goes against the ultra-aggressive style brought onto the field by Barcelona. Few variations on the theme, sometimes wearing the club's official jackets, but otherwise the German coach has been the standard-bearer of a minimal trend also shown on the sidelines by other coaches, such as Cesc Fabregas and Xabi Alonso, and probably taken to the extreme with the rolled-up sleeves on the pitch at the Santiago Bernabeu in the first Clàsico of the season.
Paulo Fonseca
Despite being sacked before the end of 2024, Paulo Fonseca still managed to leave his mark on Milan's season with the victory over Real Madrid in the Champions League. Even aesthetically, Fonseca achieved important results. Like his predecessor Stefano Pioli, the Portuguese coach appreciated the streetwear style of Off White, bringing the brand's collection for the Rossoneri club onto the sidelines, including the jacket for the club's 125th anniversary worn during the home match against Juventus.
Daniele De Rossi
Speaking of dismissed coaches, Daniele De Rossi's 2024/25 season at the helm of Roma only lasted four games, but he still managed to leave his mark. Thanks to the Fendi collection that the Italian brand created for the Giallorossi and that De Rossi wore during the first few rounds of the league: a comfortable shirt (either white or black) paired with an elegant suit jacket and pants.
Vincent Kompany
In his first season at Bayern Munich, Vincent Kompany was not afraid to make bold choices. Like wearing a total black suit by Y-3 for the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals against Inter. More generally, the Belgian coach opted for a sporty look this season, with the inevitable cap paired with hoodies or sports jackets. On his feet? The answer is obvious, sneakers.
