The goal by Dan Ndoye allowed Bologna to win the Coppa Italia for the third time in its history. The last rossoblù triumph dates back to 1974, but the 1-0 victory against Milan in the final played at the Olympic Stadium in Rome broke a long drought, the longest interval of time between two trophy wins in the competition, unleashing the celebration of the fans. Those present at the stadium, after setting the atmosphere for the entire 90 minutes, did not leave their seats until the end of the awards ceremony joining the players' celebrations. Famous Bologna fans such as Cesare Cremonini and Gianni Morandi were also seen on the field. The fans who stayed in the city instead celebrated in front of the television, anxiously awaited the end of the match, and then rushed into the streets just moments after the final whistle. On the eve of the match, coach Vincenzo Italiano had promised to bring the fans back to the streets, and he kept his promise. A long celebration that lasted all night until the team returned to the city with the Coppa Italia.
