5 brands that combine football and fashion to know More and more are emerging

Here we are at the third episode of the new nss sports column, dedicated to brands that combine fashion and football: in their collections, styling, or through individual pieces inspired by football.

Today, too, we have selected the five best brands that are absolutely worth discovering; different realities, and perhaps this time less emerging and more established - such as Piet.

Piet

There is a brand that did a ripoff of the UEFA logo, and that brand is Piet. It is a South American brand, Brazilian to be precise, like Vescartes which we have already talked about, and here we could open a chapter on how South American brands are reinterpreting European football aesthetics and style with their own creativity.

Although the brand’s latest collections were made in collaboration with Oakley and Peugeot Brasil, football remains Piet’s constant source of inspiration.

Soccertes

Soccertes is certainly the brand that, among all those we have covered and will cover, has the most incredible story. It was founded (or rather, refounded) by Cameron Jones, grandson of Clive Toye, former general manager of the NY Cosmos in the 1970s, the period when Pelé, Beckenbauer, Cruyff, and Chinaglia joined the U.S. club. It was Toye who brought these superstars to the Cosmos: he was the first to believe in the rise of football-entertainment in the United States as a model. So much so that, in the meantime, he also launched Soccertes, a kind of merchandising brand whose graphic identity was designed by a Disney designer, no less.

When U.S. football collapsed in the mid-1970s, ending Clive Toye’s perhaps too ambitious dreams, Soccertes disappeared as well. Today, however, the brand has been brought back to life by Cameron Jones, Toye’s nephew.

Studio Miasin

Fresh from a collaboration with Nicolas Anelka, former French football star, Studio Miasin is a brand specialized in knitwear, aiming to replicate on sweaters the patterns and colors of the most iconic national football teams, as well as clubs like PSG, Juventus, and Marseille.

Kasi Flavour 10

We move to South Africa for Kasi Flavour 10, continuing with the trend of brands for which knitwear really matters. Founded by creative director Kabelo Kungwane, Kasi Flavour10 is a creative agency combining art, photography, and design, aiming to celebrate and pay tribute to South Africa’s football culture.

Supercritical Studio

Supercritical Studio is the outlier compared to the previously mentioned brands: first of all, because it does not deal with clothing. The first project that made it known was a customization of football boots, where the team managed to modify a PUMA model by replacing the stud plate with a hiking sole. But above all, Supercritical Studio transcends any categorization (footwear, clothing, or otherwise) and belongs to the broader field of design. Worth noting is the sofa created and displayed in the brand-new Milanese store The Soccer Archive: a true patchwork of football jerseys.
