New Balance and Foot Locker bring Homecourt to COMICON Naples Basket, music and streetwear
New Balance and Foot Locker took the stage at COMICON Naples thanks to Homecourt: more than just a basketball tournament, it is a project that transforms the playground into a cultural hub where sport, music, and streetwear blend into a single urban language. Historically linked to the court on Viale Lazio in Milan, this year Homecourt took a significant step forward: for the first time it also arrived in Southern Italy, bringing the format to Naples during COMICON Naples.
At the heart of the Street Plaza at COMICON, the court was transformed into a truly hybrid space for 1v1 and 3v3 tournaments open to the community. Adding to the distinctive aesthetic of the project were New Balance and Foot Locker, present with activations linked to the streetwear world. Further highlighting the increasingly close connection between the sporting and urban worlds, some of the players took to the court wearing New Balance’s P350 or P400 sneakers. Thanks to their comfort, these shoes proved perfect for the aggressive style of play required by Homecourt. They achieved all this without compromising on style — a feat that can only be accomplished by a meticulously designed silhouette.
Specifically, the P350 is an ultra-lightweight model designed to allow freedom of movement in all directions. This is partly thanks to the support provided by a denser version of FuelCell foam and an updated sole design. The P400, on the other hand, stands out for its midsole featuring a lightweight nylon plate that provides an immediate and responsive feel when changing direction, stopping or starting. The P400’s midsole is equipped with a lightweight nylon plate that provides a snappy, responsive feel when moving between different directions.
But Homecourt wasn’t just about basketball. It was also about music, thanks to a DJ set by the Neapolitan collective HellHeaven11 and an after-party featuring a performance by Yung Snapp, as well as a chance for the community to get together thanks to meet-and-greets with former NBA player Linton Johnson.
The winners of the Naples stop will travel to Milan to take part in the Viale Lazio tournament, bringing the project back to its origins and creating a direct connection between the two cities. Homecourt thus confirms its identity: not just a tournament, but a cultural platform that uses basketball as a starting point to build connections between different territories, aesthetics, and communities. A playground that becomes a shared language, where sport and urban culture meet without boundaries.
