nss sports and Slam Jam present a capsule collection To remember the 12 years that have passed since the Italian National Team’s last participation in the World Cup

The date chosen for the Italian premiere of AMERICAN WEDDING: 50 YEARS OF SOCCER IN THE UNITED STATES, the documentary by nss created in collaboration with Soccertes, is far from accidental: July 9, 2026 marks the twentieth anniversary of the 2006 World Cup victory achieved by the Italian National Team. A sporting and cultural milestone that today feels more distant than ever, and which represented a turning point for an entire country. A memory that continues to serve as a refuge, a form of nostalgia capable of protecting us from the reality of Italian football, which has endured three consecutive missed World Cup qualifications.

We therefore take this opportunity to present the capsule collection born from the collaboration between Slam Jam and nss sports: an open parody of the current state of the Italian football system and, at the same time, a call for a profound reform of a movement clearly facing decline. A system that needs, above all, has the responsibility to regenerate itself, so that future generations do not end up losing interest in the most beautiful sport in the world.

The capsule collection is available on the nss edicola website for €12, a symbolic price that refers to the years that have passed since the Italian National Team’s last participation in the World Cup.

AMERICAN WEDDING: 50 YEARS OF SOCCER IN THE UNITED STATES

While the 2026 World Cup is turning the spotlight on an entire continent, nss launches AMERICAN WEDDING: 50 YEARS OF SOCCER IN THE UNITED STATES. The documentary, independently conceived, written, and produced by nss in collaboration with Soccertes, offers an unprecedented and in-depth portrait of the evolution of soccer in the United States, from the 1970s to the 2026 World Cup.

The documentary, directed by Vincenzo Schioppa and written by Andrea Mascia, was born from a long journey across the United States, from New York State to New Jersey, passing through Oregon and South Carolina, collecting stories, faces, and perspectives that have marked the key stages in the evolution of the sport on American soil. Through the testimonies of Clive Toye, the legendary general manager who brought icons such as Pelé, Cruyff, Chinaglia, and Beckenbauer to the USA, and former goalkeeper Shep Messing, the documentary reconstructs the first major media explosion of soccer in the United States.

From the past to the present day, AMERICAN WEDDING: 50 YEARS OF SOCCER IN THE UNITED STATES explores the current rebirth of the movement, now led by global icons such as Christian Pulisic. The documentary also explores New York’s new cultural wave and the main street soccer communities. Through contributions from figures such as former player Kyle Martino, it tells how every day in New York a debate unfolds around street soccer, not only as a talent incubator but also as a tool for inclusion and social redemption within urban communities.
