Barcelona's new Third kit inspired by the 2009 Sextete Of course, with the Total 90 template
After PSG, Barcelona have also unveiled their new Third kit inspired by Nike’s iconic Total 90 design. The shirt comes in bright mango, a shade also used for the shorts and socks, with navy blue details enriching the collar, coloring the logos, and most importantly, drawing the T90 pattern on both the front and the back. The choice to place the club’s crest at the center of the shirt has been confirmed. The difference compared to PSG’s kit is that on the back there is a navy blue arc, above which the players’ names will be applied.
In addition to being a new collector’s item within the Total 90 line, Barcelona’s new shirt is a tribute to the Sextete of 2009, the year in which the Blaugrana won six major trophies in total, the culmination of an unrepeatable season and a manifesto of a kind of football that left an indelible mark in history: La Liga, Copa del Rey, Supercopa de España, Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup. In the latter competition, Barcelona wore an orange kit in the final against Estudiantes, a shirt that served as the inspiration for this new Third kit.
The launch of Barcelona’s new kit comes just a few hours after an aesthetic mishap involving Hansi Flick’s team in their season debut in La Liga. In the match against Mallorca, Barcelona wore last season’s green Third kit instead of the new Away kit dedicated to Kobe Bryant, which the players had been shown wearing in the official graphics used for the broadcast of the game. This choice was probably due to the fact that Mallorca’s Home kit includes black shorts and socks, while Barcelona, at least for now, does not have light-colored shorts available to pair with the new second shirt as a replacement for the purple ones that complete the kit.
