Lithuania and Jamaica will steal the spotlight at Milano Cortina 2026 How design is reshaping competition uniforms
Events such as the Winter Olympic Games are the perfect opportunity to discover new brands and emerging designers. In the lead-up to Milano Cortina 2026, we have paid close attention to formalwear collections and competition uniforms, most of which, however, have been developed by major brands. Today, we shift the focus to two competition kits that are unlikely to go unnoticed: the Lithuanian biathlon team and the Jamaican alpine ski team.
Lithuania: biathlon uniforms between color and heritage
For the third consecutive edition of the Winter Games, Alex Pogrebnojus has designed the uniforms for Lithuania’s biathlon Olympic delegation. While for PyeongChang 2018 and Beijing 2022 he opted for darker tones, the 2026 collection marks a clear shift in direction. Vibrant, colorful uniforms defined by geometric patterns that enhance the constant interplay of hues: from green to orange, from red to purple inserts that break up the upper and lower sections.
These elements reflect the colors of the national flag and reinterpret the tie-dye jersey worn by the Lithuanian basketball team at the Barcelona 1992 Olympic Games. More broadly, for several years Pogrebnojus has been working to craft a new aesthetic for Lithuanian sports, exporting it into the world of collectors through collections that also draw inspiration from his collaborations with Vida Simanavičiūtė, the designer who is his partner in the brand A&V. The uniforms for Milano Cortina 2026 were developed in collaboration with Atex, a Czech sportswear brand that supplied the technical materials and with whom Pogrebnojus has an ongoing partnership.
Jamaica: alpine skiing through Spyder’s visual language
Not just bobsleigh. The Jamaican national team will arrive in Milano Cortina with an alpine ski squad whose uniforms are designed by Spyder. Clean and minimal yet visually striking, the looks are completed by a reversible cap featuring the spider, the brand’s iconic symbol. Black dominates the palette, while green and yellow—the two colors drawn from the national flag—are applied with a light touch, blending into one another to create an optical effect that will stand out vividly against the snow.
Founded in 1978, Spyder is a historic name in the winter sports industry, initially focused on skiing before expanding into snowboarding. First celebrated for the excellence of its technical materials, Spyder is now equally recognized for its distinctive aesthetic, defined by the iconic spider logo. The partnership with Jamaica for Milano Cortina 2026 does not mark the brand’s debut at the Winter Olympic Games, as Spyder had previously designed a dedicated collection for Team USA at PyeongChang 2018.
