Alfa Romeo unveils the new Edizione Luna Rossa Presented during the America’s Cup Preliminary Regatta in Naples

The collaboration between Alfa Romeo and Luna Rossa has entered a new chapter for the America’s Cup Preliminary Regatta taking place from September 24 to 27 as part of the Road to Naples 2027. The result is Edizione Luna Rossa, a special series available across four models from the Turin-based car manufacturer: Junior, Tonale, Giulia and Stelvio. The new range incorporates the colours and several distinctive features of the sailing team’s boats. All four cars feature a red Alfa Romeo logo created specifically for the occasion alongside the Luna Rossa logo, while white, black, grey and red form a palette inspired by the boats across the liveries and interior details. The series will be introduced across European markets and will sit at the top of each model’s respective range.

The Junior and Tonale both feature a shade of grey inspired by the jackets worn by the Luna Rossa crew, while the line running along the side recalls the one found on the team’s boats. The reference to the sails also continues inside the cars: on the Junior, a graphic inspired by their structure appears across the dashboard and centre console; on the Tonale, the same theme is reinterpreted through the ambient lighting, where the geometric pattern creates a distinctive play of light.

On the Giulia and Stelvio, meanwhile, the connection to the team is expressed primarily through materials and details. Carbon fibre is used for the front grille and side mirrors, which also feature the Luna Rossa logo. Inside, the team’s distinctive line runs across the seats and dashboard inserts, while the upholstery combines leather with ECONYL, a regenerated nylon fabric produced partly from fishing nets recovered from the seabed.

“This partnership goes far beyond sport and is driven by shared expertise, technology and vision, with the aim of constantly pushing the boundaries,” said Santo Ficili, CEO of Alfa Romeo. “In Naples, on the road to the first America’s Cup ever held in Italy, this bond takes on even greater significance, and the new Edizione Luna Rossa is its most tangible expression.”

Announced in June 2025, the collaboration between Alfa Romeo and Luna Rossa includes sponsorship of the team, an engineering partnership and the development of special-edition models. One of the first initiatives saw members of Luna Rossa take part in the 2025 1000 Miglia aboard a 1956 Alfa Romeo 1900 Super Sprint. In January 2026, the partnership produced the Giulia Quadrifoglio Luna Rossa, its first jointly developed model, limited to just ten examples. With the new Edizione Luna Rossa, the project expands from a single limited-production car to a range spanning four Alfa Romeo models.

The relationship between the two brands also extends to preparations for the America’s Cup. Alfa Romeo has made its expertise in simulation, vehicle dynamics and virtual analysis available to Luna Rossa, with its engineers helping to develop and refine the software governing the sail-handling systems.
