Massimo Osti Studio is investing in running The new collection has been created in collaboration with District Vision
The hyper-technological aesthetic of running welcomes a new collection born from a vision by Massimo Osti Studio capable of merging aesthetics and functionality. Massimo Osti Studio, a premium sportswear brand founded on the cultural and design legacy of the revolutionary Italian designer, collaborated with District Vision, a California-based brand specializing in cutting-edge sports eyewear and apparel. Two entities theoretically distant but completely complementary by virtue of their respective philosophies. The ability to revisit textile-industrial technologies and to bring opposing elements into dialogue is what connected Massimo Osti Studio with the expertise rooted in sports performance and the use of medical-grade technologies that represent District Vision’s stylistic hallmark.
Style and functionality
The result is a collection that combines technical research and minimalist aesthetics, with an experimental and cross-disciplinary attitude. The chapter between Massimo Osti Studio and District Vision includes a pair of aerospace-derived titanium sunglasses, characterized by very high lightness and strength, an ultra-light, semi-transparent and packable Pertex® jacket, and a graphic t-shirt in ring-spun cotton. A series of garments that are highly lightweight, essential and functional that fit perfectly into the constant pursuit of performance that drives the running world and that at the same time sketches a new frontier of technological development.
Even without this collection, if we had wanted to imagine the aesthetic of a running club linked to the Massimo Osti studio, it would have looked exactly like this. There is no deviation from style, elegance or innovation. These elements must coexist without compromising the functionality that is the cornerstone of Massimo Osti's production. Goggle lenses are now the symbol of C.P. Company, but they were originally designed to protect drivers in the 1000 Miglia from dust. Similarly, a running club bearing the MO logo would immediately convey an impression of practicality, utility and comfort with class and sophistication.
Revolutionising the scene
As with every collection signed Massimo Osti Studio, this line also draws inspiration from some prototypes designed and produced by Massimo Osti. This was confirmed to us by his son Lorenzo, president of C.P. Company and Massimo Osti Studio, who during our visit to the Massimo Osti Archive in Bologna showed us two windbreakers that served as the model for the ultra-light jacket produced with District Vision. Two garments that proudly show the marks of time but at the same time are still able to convey a strong sense of research, development and experimentation as well as style and elegance applied to sportswear. A line of thought that has always distinguished C.P. Company and that today is applied with the utmost dedication to the collections of Massimo Osti Studio, confirming the trend whereby running has become the new streetwear.
Massimo Osti was a sportswear pioneer, capable of influencing the aesthetics of various sports, both competitive and casual. This was evident in skiing, motorsport and football, thanks to C.P. Company's and Stone Island's association with the hooligan universe and, more recently, with the style of coaches on the pitchside. This ability to break conventions and introduce new aesthetic elements can now invade the world of running, thanks to Osti's son, Lorenzo. He has inherited his father's boundless vision, as well as the spirit of adventure and experimentation necessary to revolutionise the scene.
