Villarreal wants to play padel The club has unveiled a new collection in collaboration with Joma

In September 2024 AS Roma, together with adidas, presented a collection dedicated to padel. It featured a total white kit made up of a short-sleeve shirt and shorts, with orange details and the Lupetto di Gratton logo. The look was unmistakable, inspired by the club’s classic old kits. At the time, we were not asking whether other football clubs would follow this example, but when it would happen. After all, padel was becoming the most popular amateur sport, boosted in part by football and especially by former players. Looking back, our prediction turned out to be off, since only today, almost two years later, a new club has finally presented its own padel line.

This time it is Villarreal: the Spanish club, with technical sponsor Joma, has created a padel collection for fans of the sport. The range stands out not only for its style but also for its technical features. The highlight is the limited edition racket, which uses the club’s colours: a yellow frame with a solid blue face featuring the logo and the club motto. The collection also includes a blue technical jersey and a zip-up hoodie, both decorated with a reimagined club logo made up of blue balls on a yellow background, inspired by the rackets.

This time we will be more careful with predictions, as this may well be an isolated case that will not be repeated soon — at least in the football world. But that does nothing to stop padel and its growing popularity, a sport that continues to expand thanks to the enthusiasm of millions of players. Its growth shows no signs of slowing down, even though it has yet to fully capture the attention of other worlds, like football.
