Which fashion partners are working with the clubs at the Club World Cup?

Not just Real Madrid and Louis Vuitton

Which fashion partners are working with the clubs at the Club World Cup? Not just Real Madrid and Louis Vuitton

On the eve of the Club World Cup, the news of the partnership between Real Madrid and Louis Vuitton took everyone by surprise. This collaboration highlights the growing connection between football and fashion, a bond that extends beyond the pitch and is evident in the outfits worn by teams at official events or in tunnel fittings just before kick-off.

This is why more and more brands are interested in leveraging the global exposure enjoyed by football teams, with many clubs signing specific agreements for their formal wear. The Club World Cup is the perfect occasion for this alignment of intentions — the ideal moment to showcase the latest collections and make a stylish entrance at the most important event of the footballing summer.

Al-Ahly

This is probably one of the most surprising combinations. Concrete has been the official outfitter of Al-Ahly for four years and will therefore be present in the United States. The outfit consists of a jacket and trousers, paired with black trainers and a stretch-fabric shirt worn under the jacket.

Botafogo

Smoke-grey tailored jacket paired with matching elegant trousers and a white shirt to freshen the look. This is the line designed by Reserva, a Brazilian formalwear brand, for Botafogo, the team that won the latest edition of the Copa Libertadores. The club's logo has been applied near the chest pocket alongside the brand’s logo.

Fluminense

A white cotton shirt paired with a jacket and trousers combo forms the foundation of the line designed by Foxton for Fluminense. The collaboration also resulted in a capsule collection featuring a series of retro-style polo shirts, one of which mirrors the red-green-white vertical stripes of the home jersey, along with a varsity jacket.

Palmeiras

Brazilian teams have clearly decided to land in the United States in style. No doubt about it. Proof of this is the Individual collection for Palmeiras: a line featuring a green jacket and trousers, the team’s official color, paired with a white shirt adorned with three thin horizontal red stripes, the first of which is interrupted by the inscription Palestra Italia. This nods to the original name of the club, which has even registered the Palestra brand to launch its own clothing line.

Inter and PSG

The partnership between Inter and Canali will continue at the Club World Cup as well. The brand was worn by new coach Christian Chivu during the team’s departure for the U.S., while the rest of the squad sported a new Nike tracksuit. Speaking of tracksuits, after wearing Dior suits during the season, PSG arrived in the U.S. with a new red tracksuit signed by Jordan.

Boca, River, Benfica and Flamengo

Many teams have relied on their technical sponsor for their formalwear. For adidas, this meant creating a retro collection branded with the trefoil logo. For Boca Juniors, it came in the form of a solid blue tracksuit with yellow detailing; the same stylistic approach was taken for River Plate, but without using the club’s traditional colors. For Flamengo and Benfica, the choice was a hoodie paired with a 1980s-style shirt featuring very fine vertical stripes.

Espérance Sportive de Tunis

Espérance Sportive de Tunis also turned to its technical sponsor for its formalwear, in this case, Kappa: the off-pitch collaboration produced a polo shirt with a three-button placket, a lower hem that echoes the zigzag pattern of the sleeve hems, maroon details, and elegant beige trousers.

Al-Ain

The only visible logo on Al-Ain’s formalwear is that of the Emirati club. The Al Jahili Fort appears in white on the navy blue casual jacket paired with baggy trousers, and in navy blue on the white cotton shirt, a major trend in Club World Cup formalwear. This is likely a self-produced line.

Auckland City FC

Auckland City FC is the only non-professional team participating in the Club World Cup, but that doesn’t mean they don’t have their own formalwear. The club has not released official details, but the blue polo and beige trousers combo is likely designed by Rodd & Gunn, the most prominent formalwear brand in New Zealand.

Wydad Athletic Club

A mismatched outfit for Wydad Athletic Club with a navy blue jacket, beige trousers matching the tie’s tone, and a light blue shirt. A classic combo “soiled” only by the club logo, reproduced in its original colors on the jacket’s chest pocket. No brand has been identified on the outfit or through the team’s official channels.

Porto

The partnership between Porto and Yes Zee, the Italian fashion brand produced by Essenza and founded by Gino Epis in 1992, is one of the longest-standing in European football. The contemporary design that defines the Italian brand is evident in the outfit created for the Club World Cup: a white shirt with the brand’s embroidered logo, breaking up a sweatshirt and sweatpants combo.
